Job Description – Associate Pastor of Worship and Outreach

 

Standards

 

Of highest importance shall be the maintaining of personal standards of Godliness based upon Biblical Principles, which results in an uncompromised testimony within the church and community. Adherence to biblical, ethical, and fiscal stewardship shall be deemed critical. Work shall be conducted in a manner pleasing to God, according to FBC standards, and as directed by the Senior Pastor.

 

Definition of Employment Status

 

This will be a full-time salaried staff position. Please see FBC Employee Handbook for more information.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

As a general summary, the Associate Pastor will lead worship and help oversee all the ministries of the church. Also, the Associate Pastor will concern himself with how our church reaches out into the community and world, how the church presents herself in printed literature, the website, in the sanctuary, etc.

 

Worship                     Lead the Worship Team, find the right music and teach the team new songs, and set up music specials with those in the congregation. Work with those in the Audio/Visual area to ensure all aspects of the Worship service are done with excellence and for God’s glory.

 

Outreach                   Working with the Senior Pastor to create a plan and oversee efforts to reach into our community, the surrounding region, and our world.

 

Teaching                   The Associate Pastor will be called upon to preach and teach on a regular basis. At this time the Associate Pastor will teach on Wednesday evenings. Also, the Associate Pastor will be called upon to preach in the absence of the Senior Pastor.

 

Counseling               Counseling (discipleship) shall be offered with priority given to those of the church and as a means of witness and help to the community.

 

Shepherding            Staying informed of the circumstances and needs of the church family shall be accomplished through regular interaction with the congregation. Priority shall be given during time of illness, death, crisis situations, or times of celebration.

 

Oversight                   The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor and Board of Deacons as well with other committees and official FBC positions.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

 

  1. Biblically trained from a college or Seminary.

 

         2. Must love the living God and people and have a desire to see them know the Lord Jesus Christ and develop in a dynamic relationship with Him.

 

Accountability

 

The Associate Pastor shall be directly accountable to the Senior Pastor and, of course, to God. The Associate Pastor shall abide by the guidelines as established in the FBC Employee Handbook and must abide by the FBC Constitution.

 

FBC Membership Requirements

 

Membership in full doctrinal agreement is required.

 

Time Requirements

 

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Additional time will be necessary due to various events and meetings. Such additional time shall be understood to be an essential part of the position, and therefore a normal part of the job without additional compensation of money.
